Japanese Companies invest P5 Billion in PH

Japanese Manufacturing Companies moving in the Philippines

According to reports, a number of Japanese companies are set to invest around Five Million Pesos in the Philippines. This is because of better economic environment and attractive tax incentives offered by the government (which I believe is what PNoy talking about on his last SONA) and a lot of Japanese manufacturing companies are already make the country their second home.

Yasuhiro Matsumoto, Rizal Commercial Banking Corp.’s Japan Business Relationship Office head and first senior president, said that these Japanese companies, mostly engaged in electronics manufacturing were also looking for lower labor cost. I think that though we are, yes lower at labor cost than the other countries around, we still managed to produce high quality of work and performance that foreign countries really want plus very good English language skills. I think this is the ideal way of doing business, lower cost, and higher quality.

And I quote “Approximately P5 billion new investments from Japanese SMEs are coming this year”, meaning that they have a plan and a bright future is waiting for the us. Investing that amount will produce numbers of employments especially in the electronics and manufacturing sector, as what Mr. Matsumoto said above, making more Filipinos to have jobs. I guess the investment will be on Regions 3 and 4 mostly, because these places have already set electronics and manufacturing facilities. In my opinion, the investment may be felt even more if they will scatter the companies around the country, let say for example in Cebu or Bohol or Davao. So that the migration from Visayas to Metro Manila will be lessen, making them earn their bucks at the comfort of their own native town.

The RCBC Japan desk was previously set up in the bank’s Makati Headquarters to provide business consultations for Japanese clients. RCBC is one of the country’s largest private universal banks in terms of capital. It entered into a business cooperation agreement with Resona Bank Ltd. of Japan. The agreement aims to give clients of Resona Bank access to banking services in the Philippines through RCBC.

Mr. Matsumoto said that the latest data showed that RCBC’s Japan desk had so far “attracted” 700 Japanese clients. If those 700 companies will continue their investment, a lot of Filipinos can have jobs. TESDA also will be busy training people with regards to electronics and manufacturing courses, for there will be huge amount of enrollees targeting to level up their skills and knowledge.

As a citizen of the country I am praying that these may happen in the near future. A lot of our fellow Filipinos were experiencing stomach shout out, leading them to do crimes such as snatching, stealing among others. If we have a decent job and full stomachs, why we will do such crimes? I didn’t see any reasons. So please government, do your task. Think about your citizen.

A lot of news articles are appearing that Japanese manufacturing companies are migrating to the pearl of the orient, adding to the current number of Japanese manufacturing company in the Philippines. According to Manila Livewire, Japan has announced that more than 200 of its manufacturing companies operating in China and Japan expressed their interest to relocate their business in the Philippines, in the next five years. This is because of the declining economic growth and rising wages that are making it difficult for them to continue the business.

The news was made public and official by President Ninoy Aquino, who visits Japan from June 2 to 5 2015. The companies were hooked by the President’s repeated message and encouragement of investing “Yens” into the Philippines citing that the country has improved the business culture.

Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Philippines Inc. Vice President Nobuo Fuji said in a text message “As of now, there are about 1,700 Japanese companies in the Philippines. But we continue to receive inquiries from about 200 manufacturers in China, saying they want to relocate here”.

This implies that a lot of manufacturers are targeting the country for business, which would be great for every-JUAN. They will surely generate employments and economic growth. What these companies will definitely bring to the Filipinos are the qualities and professionalism of Japanese.

According to reports, Citizen - a wristwatch maker, Mitsubishi Power Industries are some of the companies in China that are heading for the exits and targeting the Philippines for their next business stop. Other reasons why they want the Philippines are, because of English-speaking workforce, tax benefits given to the investors and EU (European Union) duty-free entry.

The news is so great for everyone. This will also tighten the friendship of the two countries, helping each other out. Hopefully this will come true in the future.

Risks affecting organizations have huge consequences in terms of economic performance and professional reputation. Therefore managing risk effectively helps organizations to perform well in an environment full of uncertainty.

Reducing and managing risks are parts of daily works for organizations who have implemented risk management into their system. For support and assistance, ISO certified company in the Philippines often turns to ISO 31000 on risk management.

This year, 2015 is the fifth year of the standard and it is it’s year for revision. The revision process kicks from the 3rd to 9th of March 2015 in Paris, where-in the working group of professionals responsible for developing risk management standards gathered. They discussed the necessary changes to be made.

ISO 31000:2009

ISO 31000:2009, Risk management, provides principles, frameworks and a process for managing risk. It can be used by any organization regardless of its size, activity or sector.

Why is the revision needed?

In the past, number of practitioners said that ISO 31000:2009 needed a review to make sure that it still remained relevant to the users. In effect, ISO Guide 73:2009 will need to be revised as changes are to be made in terms of and definitions used in the revised ISO 31000.

What are the points of the revision?

A lot have seen this as an opportunity to seek greater changes that reflect the needs of major corporations and governments for a high-level document. ISO, TC 262 and WG 2 had to deal with a number of comments, 656 to be exact. While they did complete the task, it has demonstrated a need for a new high-level document that will require full technical review by ISO, TC 262 and WG 2 to develop a design specification that outlines issues addressed on the comments examined in Paris.

What will the new editions changes for users of this standard?

Clarity! The review of ISO 31000 will provide greater clarity to the users. This will greatly help corporations, organizations and companies to properly assessed, reduce, anticipate and manage risks for their businesses. When things are well clarified, we can handle them in the most practice we can.

When is the publication date?

There is no exact time table for its publication. According to ISO, target publication date will be on mid-2016 to the end of 2017.

ISO 31000 helps organizations increase the likelihood of achieving objectives, improve the identification of opportunities and threats. It also helps the organizations to effectively allocate and use the resources for risk treatment.

Having these guideline, framework and process will help the organizations to properly and effectively manage risks and turn them into positive outcomes.

Is Being an ISO certified Company Beneficial?

Do you have a business? Have you seen this “ISO Certified” thing when browsing on your prospect suppliers?

Months ago, my friend and I planned to start a business. We start by laying out plans and strategies on how we should kick this one off. As we were moving on, we got stock in looking for the best supplier for our needs. And there comes this ISO Certified thing.

I’m wondering why companies banner this ISO after their brand name. At first I thought this means nothing but eventually, upon researching I saw that ISO Certification is that much important and beneficial.

Yes you heard it right, ISO certification is beneficial not just to the company’s reputation but for us consumers as well. So what are the benefits am I talking about?
Before listing them, let’s define ISO first. ISO stands for International Organization for Standardization. They develop and publish International Standards. Conformity on these standards assures consumers that the products are safe, efficient and good for mother earth. Cool right?

Benefits

For Food Business
  • Cost savings - ISO helps optimize the operation to further improve the bottom line.
  • Customer Satisfaction – ISO helps improve quality, customer satisfaction and increase of sales
  • Access to new markets – ISO helps prevent trade barriers and open up international markets
  • Environmental Benefits – ISO help reduce the negative impacts on the environment

For Society
Consumers definitely
have confidence about the products and services which conforms to ISO Standards. These products and services are safe, reliable and of good high quality.
ISO also contributes to preserve the environment and the health of humans by setting standards on air, water and soil quality, as well as for emissions of gases and radiation and environmental aspects of products and services.

These are just some of the benefits I saw during my research. An ISO certified company makes us sure that the products and services they provide are safe, efficient and good for everyone. As business owners, we don’t want to have issues on the products we are selling and these issues may start from our raw materials. Having safe and good quality raw materials will lead us to high quality products. And for me high quality raw materials only came from an ISO certified company.

Is your supplier an ISO Certified? Think very well.
