ISO certified companies in the Philippines should take a look at the new version of ISO 9001, the ISO 9001:2015.

ISO 9001 – Quality Management Systems is currently on review. The final update of the version is expected to be released on latter part of 2015.  

ISO 9001 is one of the most well-known standards. For a fact, more than one million certificates have been issued worldwide. The standard provides requirements to help companies demonstrate that they can offer their customers consistent, good quality products and services. It also provides a framework to help them streamline their processes and become more efficient at what they do.

ISO 9001 can be used by the organizations of all types and sizes. It has inspired series of documents for sector-specific applications including for the automotive sector, medical local government and more.

Why is ISO 9001 being revised?

According to ISO, they revisit all standards every five years to establish if a revision is required to keep it current and relevant for the marketplace. ISO 9001:2015 is expected to respond to the latest trends and be compatible with other management systems such as ISO 14001.

What will be the main changes in the standard?

The newer version will follow a new, higher level of structure to make it easier to use in conjunction with other management standards, with increased importance given to risk.

What does this mean for an ISO certified 9001: 2008?

Three-year transition period is granted to organizations after the revision has been published, in order for them to have ample time to migrate their quality management system to the new edition of the standard.

Knowing these updates will help your company or organization to keep on the latest trends. To know more about the update, please get back to this blog regularly. The standard is now at the final draft (FDIS). Experts in the ISO subcommittee revising the standard will now go through all the comments received during the last DIS vote. This will produce a final draft which then will be put toward for voting. Once approved, the standard can then be published.
